Big-show at Firehouse THIS FRIDAY! Check the line-up!
Body: Friends, foes and strangers we must know:
The first FIRESTAGE of 2009 is ready to burn in big, fat creative flames THIS FRIDAY JANUARY 16th on THE FIREHOUSE! We are proud and excited to present killer talents of different flavors to those lucky and cool enough to join us!
LIVE MUSIC: Jump, scream and tear your clothes with Tempe’s own THE PÜBES, an awesome trio of bad-ass ladies that deliver fine, catchy energetic Joan Jett-ish punk butt rock! Check out their three-song demo at their myspace page, so you can sing along “Cameltoe” when they play it on Friday! Celebrate the comeback of THE UNFILTERED SOUND, a wonderful theatrical progressive band that needs to be seen to understand! Their last show at Firestage, a couple of moths back, was very memorable and folks are still talking about it! Catch ‘em while they’re underground! And you have the best reason to show up early with the presence of LOLA, a gifted singer-songwriter with sweet and intelligent acoustic tunes!
BELLYDANCE: Marvel at beauty, art and culture in motion with the dames of URBANA TRIBAL DANCE, as they spin and yip with the grace of goddesses, armed with swords, fire and sills! We are very lucky to have them with us, and we cheer for this new incarnation after owning many a stage as Bedouin Tribe.
Remember to yell “Opa” if you dig their thing!
IMPROV THEATRE: Students and alumni of the Torch Theatre have formed a brand new troupe called (for now, since it might change or evolve later on) FRAMES VACIOS, incorporating the madness of Kevin, Rick, Amy Jean, Jessica and Alex (only two short since Pete is working that night and I'm hosting the event), into a long form improve spectacle! Shout your suggestion and watch ‘em make magic!
SPOKEN WORD: As usual, we have an amazing band of writers ready to strut their stuff, including the likes of JASON DAVIS, KEVIN PATTERSON, DRAGON BLUE, JACK CAVANAUGH, ANNA SCHUER, PAUL DLOHY, PAUL JONES, NATALIE, MUSTARD SEED and many, many more!
And this is JUST WHAT’S “BOOKED”! We have room for drop-ins, one-in-a-lifetime performances, and any crazy thing you, or someone you know, feels like trying in our Stage of Fire! Just come down, say hi to the guy on the Alice Cooper-ish make-up, and we’ll hook you up ;-)
Admission for Firestage is free! Firehouse Cafe will be open for bussiness and if you don't feel like java, just bring your own drinks! Firehouse it's at 1015 N 1st. Street, just North of Roosevelt. From 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 pm. (music acts go on before 10:00 p.m.
